Melbourne is known for being one of Australia’s coldest cities, with the temperatures often reaching below 10 degrees in the wintertime. Although it is cold, it does not snow in Melbourne itself. However, there are a number of destinations located within 3 hours drive of Melbourne that you can visit if you wish to see the snow or take part in winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing. The winter snow season in Australia begins in June, therefore that is the best time to visit the snow in Victoria. We suggest taking a day trip to these locations, as there are several technicalities when visiting the snow in Australia, such as having chains on your vehicle, which can be expensive.
