Being the largest living thing on earth, there are plenty of ways to see the iconic Great Barrier Reef. Spread out across thousands of kilometres is hundreds of attractions and activities to enjoy, from lush islands, unique coral reef spots, to fantastic marine life. You’ll be spoilt for choice when visiting the region, so pick which way you can see the Great Barrier Reef with our easy list!

Snorkel

By far the easiest way to see the Great Barrier Reef, with visitors only needing a pair of flippers, a breathing tube, and some googles! Float on the water’s surface and look down below to the underwater world of the reef. Seeing the extraordinary creatures swimming within, and the colourful corals nestled about. Even if you aren’t a great swimmer, you can pick snorkelling up very quickly, with floatation devices also offered to all tour boat guests! Due to the massive size of the entire region, you can even visit on the busiest day of the year, and still, get plenty of space to roam about!

Scuba Dive

Instead of simply duck living to the bottom to see the reef up close and personal, why not instead opt to scuba dive the region! Cutting out having to travel up to the surface for a breath and spending all your time along the seafloor. Seeing the shy creatures slowly come out of the reef’s hiding spots as well as spotting the detail nooks and curves of the colourful coral. You don’t even need to be a swimmer, with scuba diving actually easier to do than snorkelling, due to breathing being easy and you simply floating through the water.

The Island

Instead of travelling to the outer regions of the deep sea, instead, opt to dock at one of the hundreds of island scattered about. Here you can travel both the shallow reef spots and the land wildlife all in one go! Trekking through the thick greenery of the rainforest and cooling off in the pristine beach waters which are filled with colourful coral and marine life!

Helicopter Flight

One way to see the Great Barrier Reef that is guaranteed to give you a memorable journey is via a helicopter flight! Seeing the splatter of islands and reefs from a bird’s eye view as you soar above the clouds! Due to the reef being so dense with life, the reef spots can still be seen from the helicopter (they are even so big they can still be seen from space!) So you won’t miss out on the glory of the Great Barrier Reef if you opt to travel by air!
